One afternoon a fox was walking through the forest and spotted a bunch of grapes hanging from over a lofty branch.
“Just the thing to quench my thirst,” he thought.
Taking a few steps back, the fox jumped and just missed the hanging grapes. Again the fox took a few paces back and tried to reach them but still failed.
Finally, giving up, the fox turned up his nose and said, “They’re probably sour anyway,” and proceeded to walk away.
Moral: It’s easy to despise what you cannot have. Nothing comes easy without a hard work. So, Work Hard and reach your goals.

Agree with Sunil the fox gave up too quickly he did not use his full capabilities he just assumed that the grapes were sour. He let himself down. Never give up on anything that is good for you or despite anything that you cannot achieved because if its meant for you, you’ll achieve it.. The fox didn’t try hard enough.

Doris, that is the point. The fox might have tried harder and succeeded. And certainly, he knew the grapes weren’t really sour, after all that’s why he wanted them in the first place.
But rather than try his best and risk failing, he gave up. He told himself the grapes were probably sour just because he couldn’t have them. To make himself feel better, to make his giving up seem justified.
It’s the origin of the phrase “sour grapes”, and you see it a LOT in life!

the story isnt about trying harder, and its not about “not giving up”. the story is about humility. people are selfish and want everything, and when they dont get what they want, they demonize it. like Trump! Just because people have a president they dont want, they say “well hes a racist, hes a bigot”. The problem in this story isnt the grapes, it is not the antagonist. The antagonist is the fox. He lacks enough humility to accept that hes not capable of getting to the grapes. So he blames the grapes.

human nature – we sometimes can’t accept defeat.
acceptance is the key, instead of blaming others.
